Abstract | This note describes construction features that can eliminate or greatly reduce insect populations in latrines, especially ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrines. The features mentioned include a properly installed and maintained ventilation pipe with an insect screen, and the sealing of access covers and floor slabs. Although the regular use of insecticides is not recommended, several common types are described. |
