Abstract | The report reviews the progress made in 1992-93 in the Water and Sanitation for Ecuadorian Development (WASHED) project. The project began in 1990 and is designed to assist the Ecuadorian Institute of Sanitary Works with a programme to decentralise and strengthen the capacity of community water boards, provincial units, and the corresponding central-office support offices in their capacity to meet the provinces' needs for water supply, operations and maintenance, hygiene education, training, and appropriate technology. The project is divided into five components, each one addressing one separate need. The report documents activities to involve WASHED project staff in reviewing their own progress and developing a work plan and project performance indicators for the next year of project activity. |
