Abstract

This study discusses the significance of water and sanitation services and the efforts of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to improve the performance of the water supply and sewerage system. A comprehensive survey to determine consumer expectation and satisfaction on the level and quality of service was conducted. The findings were to be used as a benchmark for measuring likely improvements targeted through the project. This document describes the survey and methodology, from its inception to its completion, in great detail. It looks at service demand and delivery from a user's perspective. There is a discussion on water supply and water quality, the different aspects of revenue administration, and polution prevention and control. A detailed 18-page annex is included at the end of the document showing the results of the survey.
