Abstract

This special issue of IHP information, the newsletter of UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme, contains a report of the International Conference on Hydrology, which UNESCO and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) hold approximately every six years to co-ordinate their hydrology and water resources activities. In their fourth joint conference, held from 22 to 26 March 1993 in Paris, the convenors were joined by the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU). The newsletter includes a synthesis of the four theme reports on: hydrological research; operational hydrology; inter-disciplinary activities; and capacity building, training and education. The Paris Statement on Hydrology, adpoted by the Conference, and the Conference programme are also included.
