Abstract

Chapter 1 provides general information about the region. The second chapter describes the institutions related to water, sanitation and health. Water in all its aspects is the subject of Chapter 3. Various water sources, the management practices of the community and their beliefs related to water are included in this chapter. The results of microbiological water tests and some technical aspects of water supply systems are also presented. Chapter four deals with conventional and modified sanitation systems and the intervention of the Water, Sanitation, Health and Hygiene Studies project in the field. Common illnesses and local treatment related to water and hygiene are discussed in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 includes conclusions and recommendations.
