This article presents a preliminary review of about 50 urban solid waste management (SWM) projects in which beneficiaries were involved to some degree. Community involvement was basically limited to primary waste collection.

Abstract

This article presents a preliminary review of about 50 urban solid waste management (SWM) projects in which beneficiaries were involved to some degree. Community involvement was basically limited to primary waste collection. The projects are classified according to the degree of community involvement and the type of organization involved.
