Abstract

Stricter legislation and the need to contain rising costs make it necessary for water utilities to increase operating efficiencies. To do so management training must be updated. This requires comprehensive needs analyses, the training of the affected employees to meet the necessary changes, and verification that these changes are occurring at the job site through follow-up evaluations. The American Water System has created its Management Institute by identifying and tying the critical learning issues within the organization to the new training objectives and then validating that those objectives were being met on the job.
