Abstract

This paper presents findings of a study on Willingness to Pay (WTP) for water and sanitation in Baroda , India, with special reference to the urban poor. A major proportion of the urban poor households were found to be willing to pay for an improved water system. The urban poor are willing to pay three times the present municipal charge for a water connection. Expressed willingness to pay for an improved sanitation service is low.
