Abstract

The CIDA-funded Community Water Project (COWAP) began in 1994 in the Upper Regions of Ghana as a follow-up to the Water Utilization Project (WUP). This paper describes four strategies used for hygiene and sanitation promotion in COWAP: 1. interactive drama, self-monitoring, participatory rural appraisal (PRA), and radio programming. Particular attention is given to school sanitation.
