Abstract

This report highlights the successful aspects of a community-based sewerage project in Indonesia. The main lessons emerging from this case study reinforce other lessons learned elsewhere, namely that there is a direct relationship between the need for community mobilization and participation in all aspects of decision making, construction and operation of Community-Based Sewer Systems (CBSS) and its operational success.
