Abstract

The application of a biological method of river quality management called the Nepalese Biotic Score (NEPBIOS) is describes. The method rests on a calculation of the average score per taxon of insects and other macro-fauna sampled and the transfer of the value obtained to water quality classes defined by NEPBIOS. The article is based on work done on the Bagmati River in Kathmandu.
