Abstract

The Symposium aimed to bring together practitioners and researchers involved in innovative approaches to household and community water supply to share practical experiences, report the findings of new research and identify the policy implications of taking their work forward. Papers presented were peer reviewed and addressed experience or research findings particularly with an eye to the widespread applicability of the approaches taken, especially the policy, technical, financial and institutional implications. Included are the conference statement, papers and the opening address by the South African Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry, Mr. Ronnie Kasrils
