Abstract

This power point presentation focuses on wastewater treatment related processes with a prevailing engineering aspect. It explains how benchmarking can improve processes within an organisation. In 20 slides it shows process definition for comparison; development of performance indicators; data quality assessment; process indicators for operating costs; criteria for best practices; definition of benchmarks; the benchmark band for operating and total yearly costs; and the operating costs related to the defined processes. The benchmarking method developed is universally applicable to municipal wastewater treatment plants from 5,000 to 500,000 p.e.
