Abstract

Financial and economic analyses – by comparing the costs and benefits of different sanitation options – enable decision makers to allocate limited resources more efficiently. Sanitation projects and programs are increasingly applying financial and economic analysis – however, the large diversity of measures and settings make it hard to compare different studies and transfer findings across different locations. Hence, greater awareness of the analytical methods and indicators is required by researchers and research users.
