Abstract

The Mobile Phone for Improved Water Access (M4W) project, introduced by Makerere University and SNV Uganda in October 2011, is demonstrating how information flow through mobile phones can help ensure continuous water services. Read this briefing note to understand improvements that mobile phone technology can bring to the functionality of rural water services, as well as challenges to scaling-up this approach.
