Abstract | Alive and thrive Bangladesh is working with multiple partners to improve infant and young child nutrition. The handwashing and complementary feeding initiative focuses on preparation and feeding of adequate, appropriate, and safe complementary foods. Children under two years of age are at their most vulnerable stage of mental and physical development. The fastest decline in nutritional status occurs from 6 to 24 months of age. Frequent infections and poor dietary intake contribute to this problem. Efforts to address both problems through improved hygiene and complementary feeding practices are necessary.
