Abstract

Water coverage in Ghana for 2008 was 62% for small towns and 56% for rural areas based on CWSA estimates in 2009. With small towns water schemes (both single and multi-village types) increasing in popularity in small towns and peri-urban areas, this briefing note offers insight into the cost of providing services, household expenditure and the water revenue generated from such systems based on the Oyibi multi-village water scheme, a peri-urban community in Ghana.
