Abstract

This report, commissioned by USAID's Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) programme, assesses the intersection between water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH) in Bangladesh. It examines the existing WASH policy and programme context and identifies potential actions which, with investment, could improve the potential for reduced worm reinfection. Particular attention is given to the intersection of WASH and NTDs in the primary school setting. The report concludes that USAID's NTD programme can most effectively support WASH for STH control through the capacity
building; research; and advocacy, policy, and communications realms.
