IRC at Africa Water Week

Africa needs a roadmap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for water security and sanitation by 2030. Such a roadmap is the desired outcome of the 6th Africa Water Week (AWW-6), a biennial event that will attract 1,000 participants from governments, regional institutions, international partners, the private sector, the scientific community, civil society, and the media.

IRC will have a stand at AWW-6

IRC, Akvo, Simavi, and Wetlands International will have a stand at AWW-6. At our stand you can learn all about the Watershed empowering citizens programme focused on policy and advocacy capacity building for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and integrated water resources management (IWRM).

IRC is also (co-)convening technical sessions on sector learning and country-led monitoring.

What is the value of learning in strengthening national capacities for ensuring universal access to sustainable WASH services? In an interactive session, we will share the findings and lessons learned from a UNICEF-IRC partnership supporting knowledge management and sector learning on WASH in 11 West and Central African countries and at regional level.

In another session, co-convened by IRC and lead by AMCOW and UNICEF, you will hear how country-led monitoring has improved WASH services and water quality, water resource management or faecal sludge management, where it has developed and how it can be strengthened.
