Abstract

This briefing note summarises the lessons shared during the "Insights: WASH Dialogues' on FSSM Matters: Looking Forward'" on 10 January 2017 in Jaipur, India. It focuses on experiences with faecal sludge and septage management (FSSM) in the India states of Rajasthan, Odisha, Maharashtra and Bihar, as well as on the importance of taking the full sanitation value chain into account. Special attention was given to the modular technology model for septage treatment plants (STPs model promoted by the Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society) in smaller cities.
