Abstract

In celebration of IRC's 50th Anniversary, IRC US is hosting a series of events. The first in the series was a brown bag lunch featuring a presentation and discussion on harmonised monitoring with Antonio Rodriguez Serrano, World Bank Senior Water and Sanitation Specialist. He presented SIASAR as an example of harmonised monitoring for the WASH sector followed by an informal discussion.

Officially launched in 2011, SIASAR: Rural Water and Sanitation Information System, is an innovative information management and decision support system with a strong focus on sustainability that aims to support a comprehensive management approach to rural WSS service delivery. SIASAR addresses the challenges faced by the sector and promotes the long-term sustainability of rural WSS services by responding to the general lack of up-to date information, generating important information, evaluating the performance of service providers, and improving the overall effectiveness of technical assistance.
