Abstract | Agenda for Change focuses on building, supporting, and using local and national systems for delivering and sustaining WASH services for everyone. A large number of actors and behaviours, and factors and functions make up the WASH system. It is indeed complex, but in order to achieve our ambitious goal of everyone, forever, starting in the districts where we work, we need to become comfortable with working with this complexity. Eight building blocks are defined from the collective experiences of Agenda for Change partners that present the critical components for strong and resilient WASH systems. The building blocks break the complexity of working with the whole system into tangible areas of priority. This presentation introduces the building blocks concept and how it is used to illustrate the key actors and factors that must be targeted and measured when working to improve WASH service delivery. |
