In November 2022, IRC started a new partnership with BRAC, the largest non-governmental development organisation in the world, for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands funded project - 'Equitable and Sustainable WASH Services in Bangladesh Delta Plan Hotspots 2022-2026'. During November to December 2022, the IRC Asia Hub worked closely with the BRAC WASH team to develop key performance indicators (KPIs), a detailed monitoring framework, a baseline assessment methodology and baseline survey questionnaires for the project. The monitoring framework was developed including necessary sustainability indicators that would factor in necessary arrangements, systems and capacities to ensure adequate functioning of the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services.

As a part of the exercise, an extensive three-day workshop was carried out from 11-13 December 2022 at the BRAC Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The jointly developed monitoring framework will be used to carry out the baseline assessment for the project, from January-April 2023.

The ceremonial kick-off of the project will take place on the 25th of January 2023. Stakeholders across the WASH sector in Bangladesh, including government agencies, NGO/CSOs, academia, private sector and development partners are expected to join. Further, the kick-off is set to launch the 'WASH MEL (Monitoring, evaluation, and learning) Platform', aimed to facilitate sharing and exchange of best practices among the different implementing partners of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on various WASH financing models.
