Participants shortly after the launch of the District WASH data Portal in Kabarole

A well-functioning system working in harmony is built on not just having trained and motivated human resources in place, but also a well-maintained infrastructure, backed by feasible and funded work plans with great potential to generate evidence-based data to inform key decisions for effective service delivery.

It's against this, that IRC with funding from Conrad N Hilton Foundation and in partnership with the district local governments of Kabarole and Bunyangabu carried out service level monitoring in August 2022 to establish the level of service provision, vulnerability status of existing WASH infrastructure and based on this develop an online WASH data portal to support visualisation of the districts' WASH performance data using graphical charts, allowing users to keep track of patterns, and trends in WASH service delivery.

The developed WASH data portals were launched in May 2023 and during the recent regional (mid-western Uganda) water and sanitation coordination meeting, it was observed that it was only Kabarole and Bunyangabu that have these data portals.

These great efforts towards improved WASH service delivery in IRC partner districts of Kabarole and Bunyangabu shall be shared during the follow-up regional Water and Sanitation Coordination Committee meeting and such other relevant fora at national, regional, and district levels.
