Abstract

This document presents both the process and the results of a participative evaluation of water and sanitation systems built during 1978-1993. The evaluation aimed to review the sustainability of 40 water and sanitation systems located in 8 provinces in the Andean region of Ecuador, with emphasis on their present situation, and on community management. The methodology used was designed to promote the participation and team work between the institutions and communities where the evaluation was carried out, as well as the training of trainers in the participating institutes.
